‌Smart water meters are mainly made of the following materials:

‌Stainless steel‌: Water meters made of stainless steel are resistant to acid and alkali, will not produce corrosion products and exudates under high and low temperature conditions, and have good mechanical properties. However, stainless steel is difficult to process, has high manufacturing costs, and has not yet formed mass production capabilities.

‌All-copper‌: Water meters made of all-copper are widely used because of their good anti-corrosion properties and low cost. Copper alloys have good mechanical properties, simple manufacturing processes, do not affect water quality, and are not easy to rust. However, copper resources are relatively scarce, the smelting process consumes a lot of energy, and there may be problems with excessive lead precipitation.

‌Plastic‌: Water meters made of plastic have the advantages of easy manufacturing, low cost, corrosion resistance, non-toxicity, pollution-free, and light weight. This material is usually used for outdoor water meters to prevent copper parts from being stolen.

‌Aluminum alloy‌: Water meters made of aluminum alloy have abundant raw materials, low cost, good mechanical properties, and high cost performance. However, under the impact force, the surface hardening layer of aluminum alloy is easily damaged.
‌Engineering plastics‌: Engineering plastics are easy to manufacture, do not rust or scale, are hygienic and environmentally friendly, and are lightweight. However, they have low mechanical strength, insufficient rigidity, and are prone to aging and creep, etc.‌
